"Welcome, and thank you for visiting my profile! I have been teaching English to adult Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for the last 10 years and help students improve their skills so they can listen, read and communicate with greater accuracy, fluency, and ease. I also tutor native English speakers of all ages to help improve their reading, writing, and speaking. Along with a B.A. from Yale University, and a TESOL Certificate from Hunter College, I have a Master's in TESOL from Hunter College, two years of ESOL classroom teaching, and more than 25 years of experience doing training and writing for financial service companies in New York City.

I have extensive experience customizing lessons using current materials to address my students' needs and interests. My lessons can help develop conversational fluency and appropriateness, as well as critical thinking skills, and show students how to improve oral presentations, essay writing, written presentations, memos, correspondence, and personal statements. I also prepare students for Common Core Standard exams and the English Regent. My high success rate helping students achieve their goals is the result of patience and a focus on interactivity, which, I believe breeds student engagement. As I am mindful that the goal of language study is to foster independent learning, you will find me to be compassionate and attentive, quick to ascertain where you need help, but not judgmental.

My recent ESOL teaching experience includes:

-As part of Master's coursework, a semester at the Community Outreach Program in English (C.O.P.E.),

an adult ESOL program at Hunter College and two semesters at LaGuardia Community College (for an

adult ESOL program and for CUNY's Language Immersion Program (CLIP)).

-Baruch College's Summer ESOL program and teaching at "Make the Road New York," a nonprofit
