"Hello,
I enjoy working with children . . . and it is what I do best! Most of my career has been working with youngsters, whether it be classroom teaching, individual tutoring, organized camps, swim lessons, or academic UIL to name a few. I am now officially retired from public schools and am focusing my attention on tutoring - in person and online.
My education includes a bachelor degree in Elementary Education with a kindergarten certificate from the University of North Texas. I have a masters degree in Earth Science from Texas A&M, Commerce. During my 35 years of teaching I have attended conferences, workshops, and read professional materials to keep myself updated in current and effective teaching practices.
What makes me most effective interacting with people and especially children is that I am very approachable, easy going, and I am a good listener. As a tutor, I work with parents to find what they are wanting to accomplish through tutoring. I listen to each child to find his or her interests and create lessons that are enjoyable while still targeting academic needs. As a professional, I am able to assess what skills need attention and then incorporate a variety of appropriate resources into my lessons.
If your child is needing to catch up, get ahead, or practice any skills from K-5th grade, I can help. This includes handwriting as well as reading, writing, phonics, math, science or social studies. If you live nearby, we can work in person. If not, I am ready to meet you online." less...
