"Hello, my name is Mia! I am a computational neuroscience PhD student at the University of Chicago, where I study songbird brains. Before graduate school, I graduated from Emory University with a Bachelors in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology, as well as from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering. I graduated with highest honors despite doing my neuroscience degree in only 3 years and my engineering degree in only 2. I know how to do school, and I can help you excel!
I love to teach and have formally and as a volunteer. Formally, I taught a PhD level course in Behavioral Neuroscience (Neuroethology) and an undergraduate course in extreme human physiology. Both of these courses were at the University of Chicago, where I completed my TA requirements for my PhD. I also volunteer with Skype a Scientist, where I give guest lectures to classrooms around the world with students ranging from kindergarten to adults. I believe a good scientist should be capable of explaining things to people at any level, and I have practice doing this that will make me a great help to you.
Finally, I also took the MCAT last year. In only a month of prep time, I was able to achieve a 98th percentile score. If you want advice on how I prepped and to strategize on test taking, I am more than happy to share how I accomplished this.
If you have needs at any level in life sciences, MCAT topics, or even math and engineering, I can teach virtually any subject you need help with." less...
