"Hi, I'm Edison! I am a freshman majoring in Computer Engineering and plan to minor in Statistics. I am currently enrolled in Multivariable Calculus or Calc III. I graduated high school with an honors diploma and took 8 AP courses, including but not limited to AP Calculus AB and AP Music Theory (5 on both exams). Early on in high school, I became encapsulated in math through one of my teachers my freshman year, who was able to use engaging lectures to create a refreshing learning experience. I will strive to use this same type of teaching towards tutoring: focusing on communication and keeping an engaging session while ensuring my student will learn the topic.
I also have a strong background in piano and music theory, having been privately trained in each for 10 years. I passed the Advanced Level Certificate of Merit theory exam in 2022 and was placed in honor branches for the piano performance section the same year. I usually practice as a hobby now that I am in college, but I will be able to tutor piano for students at around the 6th Level for CM and below with my skillsets.
I have previously tutored my younger brother one on one in topics in pre-algebra and Algebra I, and currently in Algebra II. Last year, I helped him achieve an A for Algebra I in his 8th grade. Furthermore, I've also tutored him on piano playing during his elementary years, so I have experience with working with younger students. My teaching style will always be to make sure a student understands the topic by explicitly teaching the topics to them, then asking the student to explain it in their own words. I believe that this way of learning, in addition to guided practice and examples, will let a student fully understand a topic, as shown in my brother's Algebra grade. I consider myself flexible in my way of teaching, so I am always open to change for a better experience for the student!
