"I have a passion for learning and really like to share that with others. I have been following this passion for 8 years starting with private tutoring of high school students during my university years and continuing during my graduate studies where I tutored in a low-income housing project in the Los Angeles area for elementary students. I also have volunteered my time tutoring refugee students in elementary and middle school overcoming both the academic and cultural difficulties. Furthermore, I ran an after-school program teaching elementary school students computer programming using robots. In these experiences I have thrived at bringing fun and humor into every lesson to make things enjoyable.
My teaching experience includes being a teacher in East Africa for the past year teaching computers to high school students and computer programming to refugees. Additionally I have experience teaching English as a second language remotely and tutoring online for the past two years.
My formal training is in Computer Science for which I have two degrees in. I've worked professionally for two years as a Computer Programmer for Khan Academy (a free online education website).
I like breaking down and understanding difficult ideas. Finding real world examples is also a fun way I like to explain a topic. I never grow tired of finding new ways to solve problems. I enjoy solving any kind of problem and do not quit until we find the solution and like to help students understand the value of each idea and the reasons behind concepts.
Let's get started, I'm sure we will learn a lot together and have plenty of fun along the way." less...
