"Education has shaped my life. Coming from the Philippines, I worked hard in high school to study in the U.S. Many young students see school as a burden rather than an opportunity. My goal as a tutor is to help them realize its value and empower them to achieve their dreams.
I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond with a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education. My passion for tutoring and mentorship began early. In high school, I created online STEM tutorials. In college, I worked at the university’s Technology Learning Center, helping students, faculty, and staff with software and hardware. I was also a drop-in tutor for computer science, a course mentor for Introduction to Computing, and gained hands-on teaching experience instructing two seventh-grade math classes.
I am passionate about tutoring computer science and programming—skills that opened doors I never imagined. As a Google software engineer and a woman in tech, I take pride in my journey and hope to inspire others. I also love tutoring math at all levels, from foundational skills to calculus, helping students break down complex concepts.
My teaching philosophy centers on engagement and connection. Students learn best when they enjoy the process. I incorporate real-world applications, tailor lessons to their interests, and create a supportive space where mistakes are encouraged. By balancing structured instruction with interactive activities and regular check-ins, I help students grasp concepts while developing practical skills in a collaborative environment." less...
