"Hello my name is Melissa L. and I am currently tutoring anyone wishing to learn Python, college computer science students, middle school pre-algebra/algebra subjects, and high school algebra/geometry. I've been tutoring for 5+ years now. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelors in Computer Science from Boston University and am currently working as a Software Engineer for NBCUniversal. I was a Teaching Assistant for the Introduction to Computer Science course (500+ students) at Boston University for 2 years. Throughout my time as a Teaching Assistant, I taught 2-3 weekly labs sessions, each consisting of over 35+ students. During these lab sessions I would review lecture content, guide students through lab exercises, and answer any additional questions they had on the material. I also held weekly office hour sessions where I would help students with their coursework. As a Teaching Assistant, I taught Python to all different type of people that never had any coding experience before. I am passionate about helping first time coders feel more confident about their Python skills.

Previous to my Teaching Assistant job, I was a tutor to middle and high school students in mathematics and science subjects. My expertise is mostly in teaching pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Calculus. I tutored mostly throughout high school since I was an honors students and took the AP exams for the majority of STEM related subjects. Most of the students I tutored attended private high schools in the San Diego county and I would help them either emphasize difficult concepts or with their homework. I adapt to what the student needs help with the most. I am passionate about tutoring and helping students feel more confident both inside and outside the classroom.
