"Hello! My name is Catelyn and I am a full-stack software engineering manager at Northwestern Mutual and graduated with my master’s in computer science from UW-Milwaukee. I started my education as a computer science undergrad and pursued my master's degree while working full-time. I received my master's in computer science in 2024 and graduated summa cum laude. I have 7 years of industry experience as an engineer and 3 years of experience as an engineering leader. I'm happy to help with your educational journey and career aspirations.
I have always enjoyed teaching and mentoring. While attending UWM, I taught programming to students in grades 6-8 via Girls Who Code. We focused on JavaScript and Python in those classes. I've also taught a tech minicamp for high school students entering into early internship programs at Northwestern Mutual, which focused on JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS. I also mentor early career software engineers on my team teaching a variety of technical and soft skills. My areas of expertise include computer science concepts, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Java, Python, and C. I can also teach calculus and linear algebra. I am pursuing a second bachelor's in math so I'm happy to assist with any mathematics needs.
I've received highly positive and rewarding feedback about my mentorship skills and I would love to support you! I believe the best way to learn is through hands on practice and asking good questions. I want to understand your thought process and help you master how to approach problems and solve them. I can give you practice problems and additional resources. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule some time with me!" less...
