While he was in high school, as the programming lead for his robotics team, he would onboard freshman and sophomore students, often with no prior programming experience, to bring them to a level of proficiency to be able to use complex Java APIs and libraries. In addition to teaching the Java programming language and other technical concepts, he also emphasized the mathematical foundations essential for coding in robotics, notably linear algebra.
Samuel also volunteered with a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching programming to middle schoolers.
