"Hello,
My name is Sandy S, and I’m a computer science instructor with extensive industry experience. I'm eager to help you exceed your objectives in developing new computer skills. My approach to instruction is simple: ensure we have a common and thorough understanding of your goals, and develop a hands-on plan to exceed them. I believe that exploration and experience are the best teachers, so my role is to help you set a path and coach you by turning every obstacle into a learning opportunity. This project-based, hands-on approach not only helps you quickly achieve your objectives but also enables you to continue growing your skills long after our tutoring sessions are complete.
I have over 30 years of experience working in the software industry as a Lead Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the skills employers are looking for, and I will focus our lessons on developing those skills to ensure your success in a technology career. Although I have been involved in education for most of my professional career, a few years ago, I decided to give back more by transitioning to a full-time educator role. I have worked as a high school teacher and a computer science professor at my local community colleges. I have taught various computer classes, from motivating elementary school students to explore programming using Scratch, to teaching the most advanced senior-level college classes. I have used a variety of curricula, including BJC, AP Principles & Computer Science A, CodeHS, Code.org, Arduino, Adafruit, Unity Create with Code, and have developed several of my own. I can tutor programming in C/C++, Python, Java, BASIC, data structures, advanced debugging and testing, operating systems, and Microsoft Office.
I am now looking to complement my classroom teaching experience by working more with individual students and small groups through tutoring sessions. I look forward to helping you master new computer skills." less...
