"I’m Christine S., a woman with a passion for ESL and helping non-native English speakers gain conversational confidence! I have been tutoring for over 10 years and I have had tremendous success with my students, ranging from high school foreign exchange students to international college students. I have a B.S. English and a B.S. in Sociology from Simpson College.
I began tutoring by helping foreign exchange students in my high school. I enjoyed learning about different countries and helping my fellow students to learn how to navigate the many twists and turns of American English. While studying Sociology and English at Simpson College I worked as a private ESL tutor. I focused on teaching English pronunciation and grammar.
I then entered into a career in medical administration for over 30 years. In that career I was able to encounter many patients from all around the world and I enjoyed assisting them through our medical treatment facilities.
I prefer one-on-one tutoring and I really enjoy engaging my students with stimulating and fun conversation. I find that when a student is laughing it is a lot easier to learn! Talking about relevant topics in my student’s lives also helps them to gain fluency and confidence in their conversation skills.
I am new to Wyzant and look forward to helping you gain confidence in your spoken English. I have helped many students to gain confidence in their English by my easy going teaching style. I know that if we work together we can help you walk into your next internship interview or everyday conversation with a newfound confidence!" less...
