"Hi,
I am a Cornell University graduate and multi-hyphenate who has both an analytical side and creative side which allows me to implement new approaches when students struggle. I have tutored middle school, elementary school and adult students one-on-one for several years.
With regards to Microsoft Excel, I've worked in the retail industry for over 2 decades so can explain "must know" topics like common formulas, pivot tables, recording macros, etc.. At my last position, I trained colleagues how to export data from our database and build pivot tables, and took great pride in my pro-active actions to help them.
Growing up, I've always loved algebra so would love to tutor that. I am a mother of two middle-school kids so have a lot of experience walking students through math concepts that may be difficult for them to grasp, and have experienced first-hand their joy of converting frustration to understanding.
Thirdly, I've pursued a career in acting and have landed multiple roles in the realms of stage, TV and film. I can coach students on scenes, share warm-ups and memorization tips, and help with scenes or monologues, classical or contemporary. I trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and most of my classical training and experience was from the Kings County Shakespeare Company and Hudson Shakespeare Company. Some favorite roles have included Juliet from "Romeo and Juliet" as well as Brutus from "Julius Caesar."
As for my cooking expertise, I taught at Taste Buds Kitchen and worked primarily with teens in their week-long summer camp programs. We worked on advanced recipes like macarons and soup dumplings. I studied knife skills and kitchen cooking basics at the Natural Gourmet Institute, but have enrolled in numerous other baking/cooking courses since.
Look forward to working with you!" less...
