"Hi, my name is Serena! I graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University in 2021 with a degree in biological engineering, and minors in biology, biomedical engineering, and business. I am currently in my third year of dental school at the University of Buffalo. My passion for teaching developed while at Cornell, after I was hired to teach a calculus support class for my peers. I have been tutoring ever since and love helping students finally understand topics they used to find tricky.
I specialize in math and science, specifically algebra, biology, elementary math, and calculus. I teach at the high school, AP, and college level for all these subjects. I teach students over the summer to give them a good start in the fall, as well as during the school year. I am very flexible with times and rescheduling.
As a bioengineering major in college, I have always had a knack for numbers and loved the problem solving nature of math and physics. I like to approach teaching math of any level like a puzzle, teaching my students all the rules needed to unlock the answer. This helps students strengthen their foundational math skills so they are able to excel in future math classes, as well as be able to tackle complex exam questions.
As a current dental student, I have taken countless biology and chemistry classes and regularly tutor in both these subjects. I have a specific passion for AP and high school biology, and love helping students understand biological processes and connecting them to the world around us.
Please reach out if you have any questions about my skillset or to schedule a lesson!" less...
