"I was trained as a Waldorf teacher, with a belief that academics and the arts go hand in hand to build both knowledge and self-expression. My first degree was in painting and drawing from Pratt Institute, in New York City. I worked as a class teacher in grades K-8 and then taught art at the Cincinnati Waldorf School. I later became interested in students with reading difficulties and I am currently a master's candidate at the University of Cincinnati in Literacy studies. My reading students are the core of my business, but I still teach art and writing. I love creative writing, and am currently working on a manuscript to try to get my first novel published. Learning should be fun and full of creativity. In Waldorf, we say that a teacher should crack the door of education open and let the student walk through. Tutoring should not be a chore or something a student doesn't look forward to. So, I strive to make lessons interesting and fun and to always invite the student's individuality to take center stage.
