"I have many years of experience teaching young people and adults, and have a passion for motivating and engaging youth and adults one-in-one in inspiring learning experiences. Few things are as meaningful and energizing to me as encouraging students to have faith in themselves, persevere and improve their skills. I'm constantly thinking of what makes learning more effective and more enjoyable, both through my experiences and continuing study.
I have eight years of experience teaching TEFL/TESL, including two years' experience teaching English full-time to students aged 10-adult in China where I received a second TEFL certificate as well as extensive on-the-job training. I taught students in classes from 1 to 30 people. I taught from given materials, books and PowerPoint, and also created and taught my own classes, including a year-long course in American Culture.
I currently work in a public elementary school teaching children with a specific learning disability. I teach mostly fluency and writing to students in grades 2-5. I also teach some reading comprehension, morphology, phonics, word problems and math.
I started studying French as a child and have spent time in France and in French-speaking Switzerland. I am currently teaching French to beginners.
