"I am a lifelong learner and educational professional with a diverse academic background and over 7 years of experience in learning contexts, making me uniquely qualified to tutor across a variety of subjects. From structured classroom settings to informal one-on-one mentorship, I’ve done a little of everything over the last decade.
I earned a B.S. in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource Education from Michigan State University in 2019, complemented by minors in sustainable food systems and environmental studies. During this time, I studied a breadth of natural sciences and gained hands-on experience tutoring elementary students at the Lansing Refugee Development Center and student teaching AP Environmental Science.
After undergrad, I completed an M.Ed. in Science Education at the University of Washington and participated in IslandWood’s immersive community and environmental education program. These experiences deepened my subject matter expertise and honed my innovative, student-centered teaching methods.
I’ve also served twice with AmeriCorps in teaching roles: as a Naturalist Educator with Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation in Reno, Nevada, and as an Education Specialist with Spokane County government. At UW, I was a TA for Biology 180, managing multiple lab sections. Most recently, I’ve focused on adult learners as a program director and education specialist for Penn State Sustainability.
These varied roles have refined my ability to adapt curricula to diverse age groups and learning styles. My teaching emphasizes active engagement, critical thinking, and real-world application, fostering a supportive environment where learners feel confident applying knowledge to real-life contexts. My blend of formal and informal experience enables me to meet students where they are and help them achieve their goals." less...
