"Hello! My name is Morph, and I take pride in being a caregiver, tutor, teacher and mentor with a passion for spontaneous problem solving. I structure learning as a collaboration that should foster laughter and creativity. Compassion is what drives me, and a love of kindness compels me to prioritize the child above all else. Growing up with a diagnosis of ADHD myself, I’ve learned to apply cognitive behavioral therapy principles to help children conquer time management challenges, so they can successfully complete homework and retain information more successfully.
For 8 years after college, I worked at the Chicago Board Of Trade, on the historic open outcry trading floor. Work ending at 2 o'clock every day, and having two young siblings, I found myself being asked to tutor and sit for many of our family friends. I prided myself on contending with their young imaginations and thrived in the role.
I am a northside Chicago native, educated in the Chicago Public School system (Lincoln Elementary and Walter Payton College Prep), where I got a 30 on my ACT and 3.6 GPA. These accomplishments won me a scholarship to Kalamazoo College, where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in English Composition with a minor in Japanese.
My focus is to make learning fun. I have experience tutoring students with special needs in writing, photography, and film studies. I can also tutor children learning to speak English as a second language.
I am also an avid video gamer and eclectic artist, novelist and experimental music producer.
Having majored in English in college, it's my area of expertise. As someone who also has studied other foreign languages, I'm able to see the structure of English from an outside perspective.
I'm excited about meeting you or your student! My after school schedule is very flexible. I'll do my best to help your student learn in a way that's engaging to them, specifically." less...
