"My name is Amanda. I am a certified and credentialed teacher for grades Kindergarten to Eighth. Teaching is my passion and I want to offer a fun learning opportunity to students all year. I know that every person can learn and I specialize in personalized learning. I meet the students where they are at presently and, together, we build from there. I have been tutoring and teaching for over 15 years. I believe that learning should be engaging and fun, that is why I bring high energy, enthusiasm, and varied activities that make learning exciting.

As an Elementary School teacher, I have been able to teach and explain concepts to students, especially in Common Core, in a way that they will understand and use to their advantage. The purpose of Common Core is for students to find a way to understand math concepts broadly and help them build a foundation to which they can add more knowledge in the future. The foundation is most important for students to have a strong base that will support them throughout their education.

As a primary elementary school teacher, I have worked with hundreds of students to help them succeed in reading. It takes time and practice. The key to reading is building skills through repetition that allows students to feel successful and understand the beauty that comes from the whole world when they can read.

The fundamentals of reading are built on phonics skills. Often, when students struggle with reading, it can be traced back to a lack of phonemic awareness and phonic skills. I have tested and mastered multiple programs that allow students to learn the phonics skills needed to learn how to read.

My very favorite part of teaching is watching the "light bulb" moments that students have. It is amazing to watch students understand and feel the accomplishment that comes with acquiring new skills.
