"With over 30 years of experience as a credentialed teacher in general and special education, I’ve dedicated my career to teaching hundreds of children with reading and writing challenges, including those with dyslexia. As an intervention specialist, I have worked with students in K-6 school settings and in private tutoring, providing one-on-one support tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fordham University, a master’s in education from Seton Hall University, and a master’s in special education from UCSD in San Diego.
I specialize in the Wilson Reading System, a structured literacy program based on Orton-Gillingham principles, designed to support students with reading challenges, including dyslexia, phonics difficulties, and decoding struggles. This research-based program builds foundational skills in word recognition, fluency, and comprehension. By adapting lessons to meet each student's needs, I ensure they progress at their own pace and gain the skills for long-term success.
In addition to literacy instruction, I am also a credentialed math teacher with years of experience teaching K-6 students. I specialize in building number sense, strengthening foundational math skills, and helping students master number operations with confidence. I take the confusion out of math by breaking concepts down into clear, manageable steps, ensuring students develop strong computation skills and a true understanding of numbers.
I understand that navigating academic challenges can feel overwhelming, and I’m here to help. If you're unsure about next steps, I can offer guidance and suggest effective talking points to discuss with school staff. Let’s work together to build a strong foundation for your child’s success." less...
