"Hi there! I'm David, a CSET-credentialed educator with a passion for learning and a commitment to making education meaningful and engaging. My academic journey began at Rice University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Mathematics, building a strong foundation for a diverse and fulfilling career in teaching.
To further refine my expertise, I pursued a Master's in Teaching (Mathematics Education) from Western Governors University. With this background, I bring a well-rounded approach to instruction, blending science, math, and the evolving world of education.
As a Korean-Canadian-American, I embrace diversity in my teaching methods, tailoring my approach to meet students’ unique needs. I specialize in a range of subjects, from Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry to Precalculus, Calculus AB/BC, and even college-level Physics and Chemistry. My goal is to make these subjects approachable and engaging while helping students build confidence in their abilities.
Beyond the classroom, I also prepare students for standardized tests, including the ISEE, Kangaroo Math, AMC, SSAT, ACT, and the new SAT. Having scored a 2260 (out of 2400) on the SAT in 2009, with a perfect 800 in Math, I understand the strategies needed to excel and love helping students navigate these exams with confidence.
A proud Rice University graduate (Top 20 College) with a 3.8 GPA, my teaching philosophy is centered on inspiring curiosity, developing critical thinking skills, and equipping students with the tools they need to succeed—both in academics and beyond.
