Advising working police officers and police departments has shown me both sides of criminal law. My law enforcement experience includes direct supervision, operational planning, canine patrol, firearms and ammunition, training, and advising a police department, including direct on-street legal advice for officers, and as judge in a municipal ordinance court.

I have trained law enforcement and security officers for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and the Federal Aviation Administration, and authored the FAA's post-9/11 report to congress for the busiest air traffic control center in the nation, a top terrorist target.
