"I have over a decade of tutoring experience throughout different periods in my life. Aside from in-home private tutoring, I've tutored for the Boston University Upward Bound program for a few years, the MATCH charter school for one year, and the Nativity Preparatory School for one year. Before going back into tutoring in September of 2014, I had about 4 years of working in the corporate world as a technical sales trainer and then as a technical project manager. Both corporate roles involved teaching and mentoring to a great extent, and then I realized that tutoring and mentoring in general were to be a key part of my life!
Since my educational and professional backgrounds are largely technical, my tutoring focus has been in the maths and sciences. But as I've taken 6 years of Latin in high school with 2 of those years being at the AP level (Vergil and Ovid) and then 1 semester of Latin in college, I was able to also add Latin to my subject offerings.
There are many paths to learning the abstract syntax and concepts of any subject. Therefore, my style focuses solely on the individual, working with their strengths to help them learn the subject and continuously honing their weaknesses on the side so that they eventually have other methods available to them to proactively learn new material on their own." less...
