"I am a current fourth-year medical student in Houston, TX. I completed my high school diploma in 2017, a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from Baylor University in 2020, and I will be graduating from Baylor College of Medicine with my M.D. in 2025. Throughout these educational institutions, I have gained a great amount of experience both in the classroom and out.
In undergrad at Baylor University, I worked as a tutor to several NCAA Division 1 college student-athletes in subjects like Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, and Chemistry. These one-hour sessions were the jumping point for my passion for tutoring and teaching the younger generation of learners. After excelling at my MCAT, I also served as an MCAT tutor for many Pre-med students with great results. In my last year of undergrad, I took and aced my Anatomy course, a subject I am especially passionate about and hope to continue learning in my medical training. For the past 2 years, I have served as a USMLE Step 1 tutor after successfully passing the exam on my first attempt.
Throughout these tutoring experiences, my general style of teaching has maintained itself. Before the lesson, I like to plan ahead with the students and pick a topic or region of interest. Next, I would like for students to do an individual review of these topics before the lesson. During the lesson, I like to use practice questions, do some personalized teaching, and grasp the student's understanding of the topic to make sure that they have a full understanding before ending the session. This is how I have found success in the past when tutoring middle/high school students, college students, and medical students.
Currently, my preference is for online one-on-one sessions due to the busy medical school schedule." less...
