"Hello all potential tutees! My name is Danielle and I am a recent graduate from UC Davis with a B.A. in Anthropology. For three out of my four college years, I worked as a writing and anthropology tutor, helping peers to navigate university curriculum and life. My work experience has allowed me to develop great communication skills in one-on-one environments. I also worked as a teaching assistance in our university bridge program (STEP), acting as a grader and even leading a couple of classes on topics of grammar and literature analysis. Although I enjoy tutoring grammar and English, I have always loved engaging in thought provoking tutoring sessions on analytical topics, such as literature, anthropological topics, etc.
I believe that my job as a tutor has opened up paths for my pursuit in helping others in education. There are so many factors that affect learning, and I am very invested in exploring and learning to navigating these factors to ensure a positive learning experience. On a personal level, I have been able to develop both superficial and committed relationships with those I have tutored while trying to provide a positive experience. I have learned to connect with others in a fast-paced environment, and in a more long-term tutor/tutee relationship. The ability to meet and connect with so many people throughout tutoring has been the most rewarding part of my experience. What can I say? I am a people person. I love meeting and helping others, and in a tutoring environment, guiding them to the realization of their potential and abilities.
I am new to WyzAnt Tutoring and am very much looking forward to the opportunities that lay ahead!" less...
