"My name is Darcy. I have a degree in Spanish (UAB, 2011) and a Master's degree in Public Health (Samford University, 2018). In between getting my degrees, I worked as a bilingual service rep for a small, family run company in Birmingham and then for a large insurance company (Blue Cross and Blue Shield). At Blue Cross, I worked in Customer Service, and helped the Fraud Department, where a majority of my talents were utilized. I tutored for several years off and on and worked full time until I had a baby in 2018. My current job title is stay at home mom!
I enjoy tutoring because I am able to help people overcome barriers in their academic struggles, while helping provide for my family. In general, after going through high school, undergrad and grad school I learned how to be a good student over time. It is a learned skill that with time and effort, you can have too. I look forward sharing my skills, tips and tricks with others.
English was always a subject I excelled at. After writing dozens of term papers, and learning about what's written between the lines of literature, I learned how to play the game of English. It was not always an easy experience, but with time I learned how to write a term paper that could argue a point with surgical precision--a skill that has followed me far past the world of academia.
I have a degree in Spanish. I graduated from UAB in 2011, and had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain. I attended La universidad de Jaén (Jaén University) in Jaén, Spain in May of 2011. When I started full time work after college, I worked as a bilingual service rep for my employer’s client schools and had a side job as a court interpreter for our local courthouse.
Please contact me with your tutoring needs. My specialty is walking through a class with a student to make sure they find success, and know how to transfer those skills to other classes. I can tutor liberal arts subjects and have a great deal of knowledge and experience about school itself." less...
