As a data scientist, my day-to-day involves data cleaning, analysis, and visualization (primarily in R, R Markdown, R Shiny, and Excel) to create key takeaways that are actionable and easy to understand. For several years at a DC-based think tank, I also developed expertise in quasi-experimental design, survey design, and data analysis in R and Stata. My educational experience includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Stetson University and a Master of Public Policy from Duke University.
I've been tutoring math since my sophomore year of high school. That time has spanned tutoring at an undergraduate mathematics department, tutoring for middle school and high school, serving as an Econometrics TA in graduate school, and tutoring on this platform since 2017. Along the way, I've developed a tutoring style that is personalized and focused on helping my students build a strong foundation in math concepts. I meet my students where they are; some are visual learners, others are auditory learners, and others respond well to interactive activities. I plan sessions and prepare materials in advance in a way that complements the learning style of each student.
Beyond my background in math, I'm a tuba player and play in a local community band in the DMV. I enjoy running, biking, volunteering, ALL the podcasts, and new experiences. My friends would describe me as friendly and goofy, never missing an opportunity to reference random YouTube videos or 90s song lyrics in every day conversations. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!" less...
