"Hi, my name is Vicki. As far as my experience with ASL, I’m deaf. ASL has been part of my life since I was 3 years old.
I graduated from University of North Texas with a bachelor degree in Rehabilitation Studies. I’m currently in grad school at Texas A&M majoring in school counseling for the deaf.
My experience involves working with deaf students which I previously worked at several schools in Arizona, PA and here in Texas. I've worked in both worlds (hearing world and deaf world) - after my experience of working in the deaf world, I realizes that I want to work with deaf students and be their advocate and use my knowledge and experience in the hearing world.
I taught ASL to high school students for 3 years, its a hard job but rewarding. I love being able to help students build their confidence in speaking with a deaf person (like me) and use me as their practice when it comes to the time they run into deaf people and they are more prepared than ever. I taught for 3 years, I decided to stay home with my twin boys. During my downtime as a mom, I've been teaching them sign language. I realizes that I miss the interaction and teaching ASL again.
I’m looking forward to teaching and learning with you. And helping you build your confidence and skills in ASL!" less...
