"I am a Deaf Professional. I have over 30 years' experience in the field of Deafness.
I started out working at my former high school, Florida School for the Deaf in St. Augustine as a Group Leader in the girls' dormitory. I moved to Rochester, NY to work as an Admissions Counselor for National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a college of Rochester Institute of Technology. Once I graduated from there with my Master's degree, I relocated back south and accepted a position with GA Vocational Rehab as a Rehab Counselor for the Deaf. A few years later, I returned to my home state and worked for FL Vocational Rehab as a Rehab Counselor for the Deaf. I worked closely with the students at FL School for the Deaf, helping them with their transitional plans. I was then offered a job teaching American Sign Language part time. Some of the places I taught was at Florida State College at Jacksonville, St Johns River State College, University of North Florida, and Fleming Island High School in Clay County. I also worked with students in grades 1-12 as a substitute teacher. I am interested in tutoring because from my experience, Deaf students need direct communication with someone who has been in their shoes. Therefore, the students relate better and know that we have their best interests at heart. I am looking forward to working with you and helping you excel in ASL and academics." less...
