I provide homework help, but I can also create customized plans to improve your child's mathematic abilities. I believe parents are partners in the learning process and I provide you with ways that you can help your child. I take pride in building relationships with my students to build their confidence as well as their academic prowess.
I have an undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Kentucky specializing in math and science. I received my teaching certification in Kentucky, but then I moved to Oklahoma as a military wife. In Oklahoma I worked at Sylvan Learning Center while starting my Masters at the University of Oklahoma. I completed my Masters while overseas and also did some "maths" tutoring in Australia. (Not a misspelling - they call it "maths" over there.)
In Virginia I worked as a Algebra Readiness Program Instructor in Dinwiddie County Schools. Also I taught job readiness classes to junior high school students in Hopewell and Prince George. I have also taught a basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)class at the elementary level that introduces students to the scientific and engineering method, as well as provides hands-on activities to learn complex scientific ideas. Currently I am coaching a Junior First LEGO League in Prince George County.
I have tutored several subjects: Math, Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Geometry, Spanish, ESOL and Reading to students ranging from elementary to high school. I am a mother of four kids. Three of our children are currently in Prince George County schools and I am blessed to be able to stay at home with our youngest. I have several friends who home school and I admire the commitment and effort home school parents give to their children." less...
