"Hello! I am Jennifer G. and I have been in the field of education for over 14 years. I have experience as a classroom teacher in grades K-6 and am a tutor for students up to 8th grade. I have my Permanent Teaching Certification in New York as well as my Teaching Certification in Connecticut. I received my Master's in Education and have coursework in Special Education. I am a parent to two children - in elementary and middle school.

As a dedicated and passionate teacher, I create educational environments that are student centered and foster the social, emotional and intellectual growth of my students. I accomplish this by integrating Mindfulness techniques along with Growth Mindset tenets. I develop differentiated lessons that integrate technology, to target varied learning styles. In measuring the growth and understanding, I chart student progress using a wide range of data, and organize the information into a portfolio system.

My experience in the classroom has provided me with opportunities to work with students of varied learning, behavior and emotional variants. My passion for social emotional support in conjunction with my dedication to the success of the individual student has earned me much accolade from administration, parents, and students. I believe this is due to my understanding of the emotional needs of children and their abilities to shine in unique and individualized ways.

My experience has afforded me to be the Lead ELA teacher for my grade level on several occasions, as well as an ELA Mentor teacher for lower grade teachers. I have instructed debate groups during my educational career and have developed and implemented curriculum for the NYS Social Studies examination based on Document Based Questions. In all of my classrooms I integrate literature and writing to create cohesive and meaningful lessons for my students. In so doing, I provide structure and outlines so that students will achieve their best!
