"I'm a 36-year-old former English teacher from New Hampshire who attended The University of New Hampshire with a major in English Teaching (grades 7-12). Though I no longer teach full-time (I'm a full-time Purchasing Manager for a global Cybersecurity company and just finished my MBA Sept. 2023!), I have an affinity for literature, language, and sharing my skillset that I love to put to use!
I studied British and American literature of varying time periods (I even studied Romantic poetry in Cambridge, England for a summer!), grammar, and writing. I also studied educational psychology, teaching philosophy, and classroom management skills. I taught Junior English (primarily Early-Contemporary American Lit. sprinkled with grammar and vocabulary), Sophomore English (short stories, mixed poetry, writing process, Shakespeare, and, of course, grammar and vocabulary), and Philosophy (reading short philosophical pieces and responding with logical patterns of thought, how to think critically about a text and respond verbally as well as in writing, and how to respectfully oppose someone else's opinion). I'd like to share the skills I have in a personalized setting to help your student do the best they can in their English class!
I can assist your student through the writing process, help them with their reading comprehension, aid them in crafting their college essay, and work on time management strategies to optimize what they get out of their homework.
Meeting times are flexible, and while I do most sessions online, I'm also open to doing lessons in the student's home or in a public space. I have a 4 hour cancellation policy, but the more advance notice I have, the better. I always appreciate constructive feedback, and welcome it often.
I've provided assistance to clients from middle school through adult learners, and have logged over 2000 hours in the last nine years!
Additionally, I'm available for editing and proofreading projects aside from tutoring upon request." less...
