"Every student has different sets of strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their learning style. I typically spend the first session exploring what type of learning style is most appropriate to that individual. "Every student has different sets of strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their learning style. I typically spend the first session exploring what type of learning style is most appropriate to that individual. I’ve spent my whole life traveling, but I have always found myself back in the mountains. The most profound thing I have discovered during my life is how integrated our world really is. The smallest things connect us and I believe it is our job as educators to create these connections in our students.
After graduating from Appalachian State, I have spent most of my time as a private tutor for three families in the Asheville area. Currently, I assist two 5th grade students with their integrated virtual learning. In this tutoring role, I have become well equipped with multiple virtual learning platforms including Zoom and Google Classroom. The experience I have had helping these students navigate online learning is a strength I will bring to my role as tutor.
During my studies at Appalachian State University, I had the opportunity to work within the Watauga County school system at Hardin Park Middle and Elementary School. I mostly worked with individual students in the school’s TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) program. Most of my training at Appalachian State was with students who speak a language other than English at home. My training at Appalachian State also explored online learning options and over the Summer of 2020, I had the opportunity with Landi English to work with students in an online teaching setting. The residential college I was a part of had a strong focus on holistic and experiential education
I have had Relias learning training on HIPAA and Rights of Individuals with IDD. I am also currently employed at First Resource Center that help individuals with a variety of intellectual development disabilities.
I encourage you to reach out to me to see if I am a good fit for your schedule." less...
