"Hi, I'm Katelynn! I graduated Cum Laude from UCLA with a B.S. in Psychobiology and a B.A. Ethnomusicology. I'm currently a medical student and am passionate about helping students achieve their full academic potential. My experience teaching high school SAT courses led me to discover the importance of not just knowing the material, but how to apply that knowledge on exams. Learning is challenging; I strive to make it engaging and fun for students. Most importantly, my tutoring style encourages students to build self-confidence in their academic abilities. As a student, I struggled with tutors who gave up answers too easily. Because of this, I like to ask facilitating questions that allow students to reach the answer using their own knowledge and logic, which boosts retention of material. During tutoring sessions, I present difficult topics in a creative and memorable way.

I have experience teaching SAT prep in Math, Reading, and Writing for 7 years, after scoring in the 98th percentile. I have also tutored Elementary and Middle School Reading/Math/Science. As a medical student, I am also well versed in Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, and basic Physics. I work best with students one-on-one, which allows me to focus directly on their individual needs. Every student learns differently, and I enjoy spending time to figure out what works best for each of my students.
