"I am a dynamic learner and creative thinker who has been teaching music professionally for 6 years but has been teaching informally for at least 10. Unlearning bad habits is something I've always hated, and one of my teaching goals is to help others avoid that frustration by establishing good habits early. I am comfortable with all grade levels and many disciplines. I have taught music from pre k through graduate students and professionals. I currently substitute teach k-12 in a school district, and have spent time doing nutrition coaching and personal training.
My desire, above all, is to instill my students with an insatiable hunger for success and provide them the tools to get there. Clarity and wholistic education are the goal.
I regularly teach math in the school district where I substitute. I arm students with an arsenal of dynamic ways to solve problems through avenues that are approachable and empower them to attempt complex problems on their own.
I hold a bachelors degree in music composition. As someone who writes prolifically as part of their creative work and reads plentifully, my goal is to instill in my English students that writing, reading, and speaking are the three components of literacy and understanding. while there are slightly different rules that apply to each of them, I teach students how to navigate between them fluently so they can comprehend their reading, write about that impacts them, and articulate why it is important.
My Music Theory literacy comes from a background in composition and a hobby of musical analysis. My goal is to help students understand that the subjectivity of much of music theory is eliminated when understanding it in context and that the beauty of music theory becomes much more profound when viewed through both classical and non-classical styles.
My goal is to give you a powerful foundation that you can leverage into a path for success, and I want you to get it in a way that makes sense, is clear, and doesn't waste your time.
I'd love to hear from" less...
