"Hello, everyone. My name is Johanna C, and I attended Syracuse University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Writing & Rhetoric. At Syracuse University, I was a Peer Mentor for the Office of Disability Services. I helped incoming students understand the A.D.A. Act, I.E.P., and 504 Plans and how to submit documentation to receive services.
I graduated a year early and went to Edgewood College to be the Disability Accessibility Assistant while I pursued my master's degree online at Arizona State University for General Psychology. As the Disability Accessibility Assistant, I proctored 100 students, worked on executive functioning skills called Organizational Tutoring for 100 students, and did grant-funded research. Unfortunately, the position was not renewed, and I returned to focus on my studies and take care of my terminally ill grandmother.
When my grandmother passed, and I had graduated from my master's program, I was soon employed as a learning specialist at Texas Tech University's Burkhart Center for Autism Research for the C.A.S.E. Program. As a Learning Specialist, I worked with students with autism, worked on three self-identified goals, navigated university resources, and held workshops on employment, academic studies, and mental health.
I left Texas Tech University to help take care of my grandfather, who was diagnosed with liver cancer. I am now offering my services online. I have worked with a diverse spectrum of students, such as incoming transfer students, physical disabilities, neurodivergence, single parents, and military veterans. My best skills to utilize are advocating for reasonable disabilities, practicing for exams, time management, resume building, and building research skills." less...
