"I'm an enthusiastic and experienced former adjunct professor, specializing in History and English, writing and public speaking. I served on a large regional board for professional women (motivational speakers) in New England for over 10 years. I've been an SAT coach at a couple different schools in the past, and have experience with the GRE's as well. Vocabulary training and spelling expertise is a big part of how I teach writing, along with stressing clear expression and grasp of key content. I also love motivating students to learn the STORY behind the sweep of Historical events, and to express themselves with fluidity, confidence, and depth.

My PHD work is in ancient history and I love the First 3 centuries, as well as Reformation and Early American History. I focus on great figures of each age and the "imprint" they leave for future generations. I've tutored on and off (to put myself through school!) for 30 years, and use special mnemonic Keys to encourage memorization. In a graduate lay program I ran for my Seminary, we served students from high school age to seniors with great success, teaching Bible literacy and survey. My rate is $60 an hour and happy to meet your student "out and about" in the greater Charlotte and Matthews area. I need 24 hours notice for cancellation.
