"My name is Dr. Joanna A. and over the past 15 years, I have dedicated my professional career and academic studies to the area of supporting students with diverse and special needs.
Helping others learn a grow is my lifelong passion and mission. I knew that I wanted to be an educator since I was a young child and have been helping others ever since. I am a very patient educator and my approach is making connections with my students and capitalizing on their strengths and interest to support individual goals in order to be their best selves! I am currently in the process of completing my graduate studies in Life and Career Coaching and will be a Licensed and Board Certified Coach.
I hold a Doctorate in Education from Saint Peter's University, earned a Master's degree in childhood special education, and a Bachelor's degree in psychology, both from Fordham University. My teaching certifications are in the areas of Elementary Education, Students w/ Disabilities, Supervisor, Principal, and School Administrator (Superintendent).
Currently, I am a school administrator and professor supporting students at the K-12, graduate, and undergraduate levels. In addition to teaching in special education, general education, and English as second language programs, I have mentored and tutored diverse learners of all ages.
Having high expectations for all students and looking at each student individually allows for personal growth and development. I am well-versed in learning theories, differentiation to individualize learning, executive functioning skills, common core content, and study skills. My expertise lies in academic coaching, college counseling, life and career coaching, homework help, test prep ( Praxis Exam), essay writing, college applications, college coursework, and working with individuals with special needs.
It would be an honor of mine to support your learning needs or the needs of your child. Thank you for considering my interest in serving your educational needs. I look forward to hearing from you!" less...
