"Hi! I am a dual licensed teacher with my degree in both Special Education and Elementary Education. Before I earned my degree from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I tutored through HELPS Charlotte, a program designed for reading fluency. I also worked as a Behavioral Technician at an ABA clinic focusing on helping student's with autism find their voice and advocate for their needs. I spent my first year teaching in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system and worked as a EC- Resource teacher for students with mild to moderate disabilities. Through my time there, I learned the importance of student voice and moved to a school that focuses and specializes in education for students with ADHD, learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, and students with Autism.
I have worked in all settings including 1-1, small group and large classroom sizes. I prefer 1-1, or small groups depending on the needs of the students. I work with students to promote advocacy in their needs and work with them to find methods that stick for them." less...
