"Hello parents, I'm Karen K., an English and reading teacher of 31 years, with an M. Ed. from UC Berkeley. Since 2006, I've used kid-friendly neuroscience to lift dyslexic and near-dyslexic kids to grade-level reading. Perhaps it is right for your child too. We can find out by talking and perhaps doing a simple assessment. (No charge.)
A Stanford University brain study shows that this neuroscience strategy normalizes children's brains for reading in 45 to 60 hours (9-12 weeks). Let me send you link to the fMRI images so you can see the brain images yourself. No obligation. Once reading networks are normalized, your child can learn like other kids. Whether the dyslexia arose from ear infections, stress hormones, genetics, or auditory processing disorder, all children's brains can be normalized, or very close to it.
The core of dyslexia is trouble on Rung 1 of the "Ladder to Reading," phonemic awareness. It must hold your child as he steps up to Rung 2, letter-sound matching, and Rung 3, decoding. Most tutoring works on Rungs 2 and 3 because Rung 1 is so deep in the brain. If your child has had good teaching but still confuses b/d, ch/sh, or f/th, etc., his first rung is weak or broken. Tutoring him on Rungs 2 and 3 is building a house on sand. This is where the neuro-strategy comes in. It repairs that broken first rung.
I will take your child as far as the neuroscience and my talents can make possible, often to grade level. Along the way, we will boost other skills--auditory processing, executive functioning, and processing speed. Please google the lead developer, Dr. Michael Merzenich. I've been licensed to use his patented strategy since 2006, with the first generation of the software and now the fourth.
High school kids who have battled books for years sometimes reach grade level in four months. No more tutoring needed. The world opens up to them. Just ask for my data with my own high school students. And call or message me about your child of any age. Talking is always free." less...
