"Hello! I am a certified elementary teacher with a Master's Degree who has been trained in Orton-Gillingham dyslexia therapy. The program that I teach is research-based and was developed in the Dyslexia Laboratory at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. The program is very structured and allows students to experience success. Lessons are an hour long and consist of phonological awareness, alphabet skills, reading, spelling, handwriting, verbal to written expression, and listening. It is recommended that students have three to five lessons each week in order to make progress as a reader.
I love teaching students in this one-on-one setting because I can give each one exactly what he or she needs. Each dyslexic student is different and some need more repetitions than others. I design each lesson specifically for each student and give each one an optimal amount of review and new learning.
I am very focused on creating an encouraging and uplifting environment for each student. I give opportunities for students to gain self-confidence and experience success.
I am a certified teacher and have taught English in the public school setting for the last three years.
I am trained as an Orton-Gillingham dyslexia teacher. I teach Alphabetic Phonics.
Please feel free to contact me! I would love to discuss your child's specific needs and make a plan to help him or her grow in literacy!" less...
