"Hi there! My name is Ahmed, and I am a second year Internal Medicine Resident training in North Carolina. I went to medical school in China (China Medical University) and graduate school in Southern Illinois (SIUC), where I received my Masters in Biology and taught as Biology and Genetics for four years. Also while in grad school, I have taken the USMLE exams STEP 1 and 2 scoring 245 and 250, respectively. I have also received my Occupation English Test (OET) certificate and subsequently my Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates certification. I began tutoring for the USMLE with Varsity Tutors while in graduate school as a way to maintain knowledge and exchange experiences. I have grown to enjoy the relationships I developed with my students as well as the impact I was having on their lives. During my sessions, I emphasize active learning as the optimal technique to consolidate knowledge which many of my students have appreciated. Over the years, many of students have passed their board exams. Some I have tutored for both Step 1 and 2, which I found incredibly gratifying and validating. I primarily tutored adults (medical students and science major undergraduates). As I continue my educational journey, I continue to seek teaching opportunities to share my knowledge and experiences.
