"I am Yvette. I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor in Theatre Arts. I enjoyed taking all the classes for my major-from Music Enjoyment to building sets and making props in Theatre Experience class. I have been working with the Lee County School District for five years now. Three of those five have been as a Substitute Teacher. I began as a Paraprofessional and I helped teach Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, History and Social Personal. As a Substitute Teacher, however, I have specialized in English, Language Arts and Reading. In college, I was a member of a student organization which partnered with local elementary schools tutoring students to help them bring their grades up. The church that I attended then had their own school and I tutored 3 students during my senior year in college. I enjoy learning. I especially love reading because it was by reading that I fell in love with education. It is one thing to love education, but it is a different thing to teach others to love to learn. I believe I have learned how to teach others to accomplish their educational goals because I took the time to get to know myself and I continue to learn from incredible sources like Public Speaking from Dale Carnegie Institute, leadership development from Level Up Coaching and Consulting, John Maxwell’s 15 Laws of Growth and more. Nowadays, there are countless ways to get an education; however, a student needs a guide to help him or her customize that education to their learning style.
I currently tutor a student who is studying for his police academy exam. Just like I did with him, I am looking forward to being a guide for you. When I tutor my students, I go beyond just tutoring. I get to know them to understand what they are looking for out of the tutoring experience. I use the resources and sources available to me to propel them into their desired destination.
