"I am a graduate of Lack County Community College and Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, my major was Workforce Education and Training. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995. I have been in education ever since, starting with training our nations finest in the United States Navy, from newly recruited to senior officials. I have been recognized for my abilities also. From the Navy, I went to a Power Company and was a training specialist. Moved on to a role in a food factory where I was the Maintenance Training Supervisor. Currently I am working at a CO-OP school which blends home school with a classroom, 3 days at home and 2 in classroom. I am responsible for teaching 5-8 graders based on need and am in my second year.
Although the base of my formal education is in teaching adults, I have relied on my skills attained in many years of training, as well as using multiple training strategies like classroom instruction, hands on training, the use of technology (smart boards, power points, video, learning management systems, and hands on trainers) to get the message across. I have enjoyed great success in applying methods learned along the way into instruction. I have access to so much information, a world of experience from my travels in the Navy and in support of industry, as well as personal travel, and a undying desire to help the learning process along.
Throughout my experience working with middle school students, I have developed a patent and engaging approach to instruction, tailoring lessons to meet individual needs as well as following the curriculum closely. I strive to make challenging concepts more accessible by breaking them down into manageable steps and encouraging critical thinking. My goal is not only to improve students' academic performance, but also to foster a lifelong love of learning." less...
