"I am a certified educational therapist through the University of Riverside. I have been involved in many forms of education for the last 20 years. First as a Math tutor and then as a credentialed elementary school teacher. I love working with students teaching Math, Reading, and History.
More recently, as an educational therapist, I have had the opportunity to use a combination of educational and therapeutic approaches to evaluate and support my students. I love seeing the light turn on for my students and am very patient to help them reach their goals.
I love Math! Math has been a favorite subject for me to teach and tutor. I understand and recognize when students are struggling and need to SEE Math. I use many different type of manipulatives to help facilitate the imagery and have a tactile experience. I also can use games. I am also familiar with Singapore Math, an award winning Math program.
As an educational therapist, I am trained in many programs including the award winning reading program, Lindamood Bell’s Seeing Stars and Visualize and Verbalize as well as Fast Forward.
As an educational therapist, I have worked with many children in grades K through 6th having learning disabilities and difficulties in the areas of Math, (dyscalculia) reading, phonemic awareness concerns, writing, poor organizational and study skills, school and test anxiety, low academic self-esteem, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD / ADHD) and executive function disorders. My passion is to help students find ways to understand social and emotional difficulties that may be affecting their learning. My ultimate goal is to help students become aware of their strengths, learn to learn effectively, and develop self-advocacy skills.
I look forward to working with your child and welcome questions you might have. Please feel free to contact me or set up a lesson." less...
