"Hello! I'm an educator that loves to help young people reach their goals. I have been tutoring math and science since 2016 and I became a certified 9-12 science teacher in 2018.
I am excited to help students in this area love learning, whether the area of challenge is science, social studies, or even test prep. I love teaching and seeing that "a-ha" moment when everything makes sense. My passion is showing students how to connect the dots between components of an ecosystem or cause-effect relationships in history.
In my home state of Florida, I graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy and a B.A. in History and developed interactive science programs with the Museum of Science and Industry. While in college, I was a substitute teacher with Hillsborough County Public Schools and a research assistant at the University of South Florida Library, connecting students and faculty members with the resources needed to succeed. In North Carolina, I have worked in informal education in City of Raleigh and City of Durham Parks and Recreation, and as a formal educator for Franklin County Schools.
I have a well-rounded STEM background including biology, chemistry, geology, robotics, ecology, mathematics (including calculus). I know how to connect complex theories and models to everyday experience for illuminating analogies. My experience with hands-on, experimental science will help you or your student succeed in school, and carry the essential concepts on into the real world.
