"Hello. I am a full time tutor and specialize in AP Physics, Honors Physics, first year College Physics, Calculus, and Chemistry. I have an undergraduate degree in physics with minors in math and chemistry from Virginia Tech and an M. A. in Teaching with a focus on science education from Boston University. I am also a former physics and chemistry teacher.
I tutored informally throughout high school and college, helping classmates with homework and preparing for tests. In the last few years I have tutored formally through in person sessions as well as online using Wyzant's videoconferencing software. Many of my students have complemented me on my patience as well as ability to illustrate difficult concepts.
I have a strong background in mathematics, having earned a mathematics minor at Virginia Tech and applying mathematics from algebra to advanced calculus in my physics courses. I have tutored students at different levels of mathematics from middle school topics such as pre-algebra to high school topics such as geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus, and college level courses such as differential, integral, and multivariable calculus. I am also familiar with teaching students how to apply mathematics concepts to physical problems.
After earning a B.S. in physics, I taught Physics, Chemistry, and Physical Science for several years as a high school teacher. I am familiar with breaking difficult physical concepts down to aid in understanding and helping students develop skills in approaching and working through problems.
