"Hi I'm Marie! I graduated from DeSales University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Communication. During my professional career, I earned a Master of Business Administration from Holy Family University. During childhood, I became an avid reader and still am today. I am passionate about lifelong learning, whether it is from a book or real-life experience. I am also an active member, club officer and district leader in Toastmasters International. Toastmasters has greatly enhanced my public speaking skills and built my confidence. I enjoy teaching others, am an excellent mentor and listener, am detail-oriented and am dedicated to students' success. I have a passion for teaching others and find fulfillment in helping students improve their skills.

I have 4 years of volunteer tutoring experience. I have tutored high school students in English Composition, elementary school students in reading and writing, and middle school students in public speaking. Here, I have tutored students one-on-one, in groups of 2-3 students at a time and classroom (~10 students) settings. From a prior position, I also have experience with educational consultations, where I met with the parents to determine the students' needs and work with them and the student on a plan moving forward. Through my Toastmasters experience, I have mentored fellow adult members in crafting speeches and speech delivery. I have also mentored middle school students by teaching them the fundamentals of public speaking and speech writing. My overall approach with the student is to begin by listening to them and doing a needs analysis. In the beginning, I believe in meeting the student where they are at in their coursework and if necessary, revert back to fundamentals as needed.
