"I’m Amanda. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Special Education (general and adapted curriculum). Throughout my 18 years of teaching, I have taught in every grade level ranging from Preschool through high school. Throughout my teaching tenure, I have worked with students from various backgrounds who all share the same passion of wanting to learn. I discovered early on that learning can occur when the correct supports are in place. I am the teacher who believes all students can learn.
In addition to my experience in teaching students face-to-face, I also have been tutoring students in elementary, middle, high school, and college online for over 10 years. The students who I tutor online are the ones who need one-on-one specialized content specific instruction. Presenting content in a multi sensory way allows the student to grasp the concept and for real learning to take place. I believe and know that one model does not fit all. I utilize a variety of strategies (i.e. goal setting, lesson structure, explicit teaching, collaborative learning, questioning, feedback) to ensure students understand the concepts.
I work with students with and without disabilities. Throughout the last 17 years, I have had experience working with students with Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairments (I.e. Cerebral Palsy, TBI), Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments, Developmental Delayed, Deaf-blindness, Deafness, and other health impairments (i.e. ADD/ADHD, Diabetes, anxiety). In addition, I am knowledgeable about AAC devices and working with students who are non-verbal. I believe that all students can learn with the right supports and guidance." less...
