I also love to write my own stories and use my imagination. I often give books to my students that I feel will not only challenge them but make them feel the way I do about reading.
I've taught 7th and 8th grade ELA in a private school for 3 years. While being there, I've taught Shakespeare, The Outsiders, To Kill a Mockingbird, and other classic novels. I've also taught many short stories and writing techniques. I privately tutored a middle school student in ELA for 2 years and elementary students at a center for 1 year. I love working with students and giving them confidence to do well. Tutoring is a great way to work one on one with students and get to the real root of the issue. I'm currently working as a teaching aide in 5th grade and working one on one or with a group is what I do.
I have an undergraduate degree in English and a master's in English Education. I've taught 7th and 8th grade for three years. During that time, I've taught many different lessons on literature, grammar, and vocabulary. I continue to read books during my free time in order to increase my vast vocabulary.
Besides having my certification in ELA, I also am certified in Elementary Education. I've spent the last four years working at an elementary school as a permanent substitute and a teaching aide. My job as a teaching aide is to work one on one with students in the class and reinforce what they have already learned. I also have input on lesson plans and curriculum material.
I look forward to working with students on any issues they may have. My teaching philosophy is to always inject a little fun in every lesson that I teach. A student will always do better, when they are enjoying the learning process." less...
