"I'm Dylan L. I am currently enrolled at Waubonsee Community College majoring in Elementary Education. I should be getting my Associate degree in December 2020. I've taken Intro to Education, Intro to Special Education, Educational Psychology, Intro to Technology in Education, and Clinical Experience in Education. In Intro to Education, I put together a lesson plan and presented it to other college students, and I conducted about an hour long interview with a 3rd grade teacher and wrote a report on it. In Intro to Special Education, I observed a social worker in an elementary school for about an hour and wrote a report on it. In Clinical Experience in Education, I was supposed to spend about 45-50 hours in a 3rd grade classroom to gain some experience in a classroom. However, I was only able to spend about 25 hours in the classroom because the school shut down due to Covid-19. While I was in the classroom, I taught a lesson plan, assisted students with their work, helped my cooperating teacher with a couple of tasks, did a lot of observing, and built great connections with the students.
I don't have much experience teaching besides what I listed above, and I have never tutored anyone before. However, I'm interested in becoming a tutor so I can gain more experience teaching before transferring to a University. I love helping, encouraging, motivating, and building relationships with students. I have a strong desire to improve my teaching and tutoring skills, and I can't improve my skills unless I practice. If the student has a good relationship with the student, and the tutor sincerely cares about what's best for the student, then it'll be easier to tutor them because both the tutor and student have a passion for learning.
Math is one of my strongest subjects, and it's the subject I feel the most comfortable teaching. I'm very fluent with elementary school level math, and should have no problem teaching it to someone. The highest level of math I've taken was college level algebra, which I aced.
